Aloha Obama Chip Cookies Recipe

Holly's Homage to Obama:

Aloha Obama Chip Cookies
(Half black, half white with a taste of Hawaii. ENJOY!)


Ingredients:

* 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
* 3/4 cup granulated sugar
* 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 2 large eggs
* 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate bits
* 1 cup white chocolate bits
* 1 cup coarsely chopped macadamia nuts
(note: If you use salted macadamias, omit the tsp. of salt, above)
Optional: * 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut

Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl and set aside. Beat butter, both sugars and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in black & white bits and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

  1. Holly! We made these delicious cookies today and had so much fun. Thank you for sharing your inspiration. Just a note about the recipe; if you use dry roasted, salted Macadamia nuts, you can eliminate the salt from the recipe.

  3. For a variation on the variation, of choc. chip cookies, try adding coconut to the Aloha Obamas. I'm going to try this version on the weekend.
